Garden Plans > 2020: Market Garden - North Plot

About this Garden Plan

This is my north plot market garden for summer, 2020. Preceding the cucumbers through the marigolds will be alternating rows of bloomsdale longstanding spinach and French breakfast radishes, followed by a row of flat leaf Italian parsley. Preceding the tomatoes and peppers will be alternating rows of a homemade mix of rainbow carrots and common chives. The cucumbers will be trellised up a bamboo and string trellis at an angle so the fruit will hang down and be shaded. I'm hoping the lettuce and basil will be shaded and last longer into the summer. Also hoping the tansy will keep away cucumber beetles. Tomatoes to be staked on bamboo poles. Possibly will rig up a shade cloth covering the whole garden, or at least the tomatoes and cucumbers. Have had too much crop loss due to high heat. The soil will be amended with composted manure in late fall and I should have enough kitchen scrap compost ready to amend the soil by late winter. Nightshade family will be fertilized with epsom salt/bone meal/crushed aspirin/egg shell mix. Bone meal for root crops.
